Join Our Ministry Team to Take the Gospel to Children!

Are you burdened for the children in your community? In your state? Are you passionate about taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the most neglected mission field?

Are you

  • a young person looking for a ministry in which you can invest your life?
  • an early retiree from the secular workplace and desire to now invest your talents in Christian ministry?
  • a person that has been serving with another mission agency and need a change?

There are many areas of CEF ministry in Tidewater in which you can become involved as a volunteer or paid staff.

Volunteers
CEF ministry is built around volunteers! God needs you to be part of the Mission 4/14 movement for whatever time you can invest!

Direct Ministry to Children

After School Good News Clubs Teams
Volunteers are needed be part of a team to adopt a local public elementary school to hold an After School Good News Club program for 90 minutes one afternoon per week. There are various roles on the team. Volunteers must be available when school is dismissed.

Summer Missionaries
Young people from 14 through college age serve the Lord for three-five weeks during the summer to teach 5-Day Clubs (backyard Bible clubs). Adults can also serve. Read more about CEF’s Christian Youth in Action program at www.cefonline.com/cyia.

Administrative Support

Fundraisers/Grant writers
CEF of Tidewater is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We do not receive funding from outside the state. Our financial policy is “Ask God and tell His people”. Funds to run and expand the ministry come from churches and individuals who support us. We need to increase our financial base to include support from Christian businesses. Is fundraising or grant-writing your area of expertise? We are forming a team of people who can help us raise the necessary funding to expand the ministry so more children can be reached. Grants would be a great blessing if we had someone who could focus on that area.

Event Planners
CEF of Tidewater holds several events each year such as training events and fundraising events. We need those with organizational and communication skills to lead and participate in these efforts.

Ministry Leadership/Volunteers or Paid Staff

Board Members (Volunteer positions)
Board/committee members are needed for various chapters throughout Virginia to oversee the ministry in the local area. Board members should have a heart for ministry among children and have initiative and drive to develop the Mission 4/14 movement  in their county or counties. Board responsibilities include hiring ministry personnel, fundraising,  organization and ministry planning. Local boards or committees work under the auspices of the state board of directors. Individuals with business experience as well as those with a ministry heart are needed. CEF is a 501(c)(3).

Local Coordinators/Directors
Local Coordinators/Directors are needed to provide leadership for various counties or groups of counties across Virginia. Individuals filling these positions need to be self-starters, have above average communication and interpersonal relationship skills. They must have the ability to mobilize churches to adopt their public elementary schools to establish Good News Clubs and 5-Day Club outreach ministries during the summer months. These can be volunteer or support-raising positions.

Career Missionaries
CEF of Virginia offers opportunities for individuals to serve as missionaries right here at home on a full time basis. Career missionaries raise financial support to cover their salary and other ministry expenses. Missionaries are assigned specific responsibilities in the ministry depending on their giftedness. Often they work closely with the Ambassador team to seek opportunities to open schools and encourage churches to partner with CEF and adopt schools in their neighborhood. (If you feel called to minister to children outside of Virginia, CEF has opportunities in every state in the USA and in over 180 nations. Check out more opportunities on www.cefonline.com.)

Good News Club® Ambassadors
We are forming a Good News Club Ambassador leadership team across the state to represent the ministry of CEF. Ambassadors present the Good News Club ministry to pastors, churches and youth groups to recruit teams who will adopt their local community elementary school for an After School Good News Club program. They may also assist in the training of the GNC teams. Ambassadors also meet with school principals and school district personnel, when necessary, to open new schools for GNCs. In addition, ambassadors help organize summer ministries and other efforts to reach children for Christ.

Summer Ministry Coordinators
Various individuals are needed each summer to help coordinate our 5-Day Club summer outreach program across the state. Young people, 14 through college age, teach three 5-Day Clubs (back yard Bible clubs) in neighborhoods, community centers, parks, on sidewalks in inner city areas and anywhere children are found. The summer ministry coordinator finds locations for the clubs and seeks transportation for the young people who will teach them. This is a great ministry for those seeking internship positions from Christian colleges.
