Dear CEF Friends,
     This school year has been filled with countless blessings from an increase in Good News Clubs to a new intern. February marks the first time back in Suffolk public elementary schools since the outbreak of COVID with not just one GNC but TWO!!  While efforts are still underway for clubs to resume meeting directly after school in Chesapeake, three Good News Clubs in various locations, other than the public schools, are in progress and reaching 83 children with the Gospel.  The grand total of 683 children enrolled in the 26 Good News Clubs has risen steadily throughout the year.  Darius Burton, team leader at Bettie F. Williams shares one reason why.  "Our students at GNC have been a major factor in our student numbers.  They have friends who they always bring forms to and invite them to the club." 
     As children are continuing to be discipled, interest in baptisms are taking place.  Two children from different GNC whose families do not attend church have expressed a desire to be baptized.  Many of our students do not regularly attend church, so the weekly evangelism and discipleship that is taking place within the GNC are vital for learning about and growing closer to God. The fact that a young child can comprehend the simple message of salvation and become a child of God is the foundational principle of CEF.  So far this year, 31 professions of faith have been made by the children in the Good News Clubs.  Two of the stories have been included in our newsletter. 
     With great excitement, I would like to introduce our new intern, Grace Hennessey!  She has been serving as a summer missionary with Christian Youth in Action for three years.  Her experience within the ministry and faith-filled Christian example are just a few of her strengths.  Enjoy the photos of Grace co-teaching the Wordless Book Workshop with Makayla.

 "Our club meets in the classroom of one of our students' parents.  Last year, he would sit with her while she did her work after school and while he waited, he would listen to our club meetings.  He eventually asked his mom if he could join our club and she signed him up.  After a few club meetings, he said he used to go to church, but they had never taught him and the other kids about the things we were learning about in the Good News Club.  During our last GNC meeting, he raised his hand when I gave the invitation to indicate he wanted to talk with an adult leader about believing in Jesus.  During the counseling session with one of our team leaders, he prayed to receive Jesus into his heart."
